Progress

Well students, believe it or not, we are now in the month of October. Time is certainly moving quickly. Let's look back at some highlights of the past month:

  • Back to school church service with the focus on a new beginning, a new attitude a new you
  • Prefect training and assuming duties
  • Walk-about by teachers where we met some of you in your communities
  • House competitions in volleyball
  • Progress tests in your various subjects
  • Grade 9 Parents' meeting

At this time, I want you to assess your progress.

  • Have you been displaying the right attitude?
  • If you are a prefect, how well are you leading and acting?
  • How are those tests and assignment results? Did you make the 21 A's?
  • Have you carefully read your contracts from the Grade 9 parents' meeting?

HOW WELL HAVE YOU BEEN DOING? PAUSE TO ASSESS YOUR PROGRESS AND MAKE THE CHANGES YOU NEED TO!!!!!

Aim for Excellence

We have now completed three weeks of school. By now you should be settled and allowing the goals you have set to guide your actions. I know you have been challenged in many ways, as those who are working with you in the various capacities want the best in you to be seen. Your homeroom and subject teachers, year heads and supervisor all have one goal in mind, to make your final year in junior high school one of excellence. You have been told:

  • Change has come
  • Autograph your work with excellence
  • Be a role model
  • Use your time well

Have you embraced these thoughts?

What are you doing different than you did last year?

Remember if you do things the same way you will get the same results. Make the changes that are necessary and stick to the plan. Keep the challenges as guides for each day. So having set your goals, let me encourage you to AIM FOR EXCELLENCE!!!

Goal Setting

Hello students. It is a great time to be in school. It is a wonderful feeling to have arrived at Grade 9. I am sure you can look back to when you first started kindergarten or preschool. No doubt you have pictures and various memorabilia of the occasion. Now after about 9 or more years you are in Grade 9. Wow! You are indeed growing. My simple challenge to you at this point is to set goals. Set goals for:
  • GPA- Look at where you are now and where you would like to be by the end of Christmas term and at the end of Grade 9
  • Study schedules - outline how much content you want to revise for given time periods. Utilise your study cards and follow your study time-table
  • Grades - what you would want to achieve in the various subjects
  • Personal growth - how you want to see yourself mature emotionally, socially, spiritually and intellectually
  • Peer relationships - choosing how you relate and who you relate to. Are these peers building or tearing down your life
  • BJC - how many subjects you will do. It is now time to begin studying!

Remember, you reap what you sow, so plan well and use your time well. Stick to the goals you have set and I am sure you will feel rewarded in due time.
